Faithful ThisThatBeauty readers know that the Happen African Collective show at Mercedes Benz Style Week is one of my personal favorites. For the last two time, I have had the enjoyment of covering every backstage and the runway.
For the Fall/Winter 2010 time of the African Collective, regrettably due to scheduling conflicts, I was not in a location to attend…and boo it up with Tyson…
(Season one)
I also missed out on the likes of Alek Wek, Liya Kebede, Stacey McKenzie. Boo hoo! *actual tears*
Season one of the African Collective was ushered in with a sonic boom. I confess I almost moist myself with enjoyment when the iconic, often imitated, but by no signifies duplicated, Grace Jones hit the runway. The normally reserved press and celebs in attendance went totally bananas. You could listen to individuals yelling – Strange’! (These who keep in thoughts “Boomerang will get my Strange’ reference)
Even even though I was not in a location to go to the African Collective this time, I was in a location to get the rundown on the makeup. Iman Cosmetics was the makeup sponsor. I merely adore Iman and the inspiration behind her brand. I respect that the line speaks to an beneath represented demographic AND is frugalista nice. March over oto your close by Wal-Mart, Duane Reade, or Tar-jay of choice, and you will find Iman Cosmetics. For a even though, in my humble viewpoint, the brand had fallen off and did a horrible job of retaining drugstore shelves stocked with merchandise. Much more than the last yr I’ve been sneaking up on Iman Cosmetics in random drugstores, and it tends to make me very happy to observe that the business is a great deal enhanced in the locations of plentiful stock, swatching samples, and new items. For these factors, I am giving Iman Cosmetics a nicely deserved “atta boy…or lady, i guess. *smile*
Even though I adore presenting the backstage makeup run down for exhibits that I cover, I particularly appreciate providing my readers the run down on makeup seems that are inexpensive. May this montage of runway seems from The African Collective inspire and encourage you to go to your close by drugstore, buy the items, and recreate the seems! Go on…channel your internal fashion!
